Donald Mackreth wrote about Roman Brooches as far back as 1973, so his two books titled “Brooches in Late Iron Age and Roman Britain” has a good background in offering a positive identification of Roman Brooches, with many in the Archaeological world thinking his work on the two books are the next best thing to Hulls work, which unfortunately remains unpublished…
Hull wrote in the 1950’s & 60’s a major piece of work on Roman & Romano British Brooches, which has seen a lot of Hull’s work being borrowed for various books, papers etc..etc.. & no doubt many pieces of his work remain unpublished, which is such a shame
